Moped Adventures....

After a late night of movie watching and also being woken up by the torrential rain through the night, we had a bit of a sleep in. We had no plans for today so we decided that we would go for a ride down through Kata which is below where we were staying in Karon. The ride was nice and we got to see some places we hadn't been before. Moped riding here is a bit hairy at times and if you believed everything you read about it on the internet you would not get on a bike in a million years. It really isn't that bad and as long as you are sensible and careful it is quite safe. Unfortunately there are many idiot Westerners that give everyone a bad name as these big beefy tattooed dickheads think that riding really fast, smoking, one handed with no helmet on is pretty cool....I want to remind them that they are on a scooter not a bloody Harley....lol. Being alert is the biggest thing as you have to watch out for cars, other bikes, potholes, bad roads, parked cars in random places, car doors opening, the slippery white line on the side of the road, big bloody reflectors, dogs, people and bikes riding on the wrong side of the road....to name just a few things....lol. Never the less as I do all the riding I have become quite a pro and riding like the locals is sometimes called for....like going through red lights, just because you can. Anyway enough about scooters. We stopped for coconut shakes at Karon on the way back and then as we got into Kamala we noticed a market set up so stopped to have a look. It was full of food stalls, fruit and vegies, meat and clothes. We found lots of cool snacks and drinks to buy which we took with us for later. As I had a damn headache I was keen for a shower and rest as Tanya was going back to get the massage she didn't get yesterday. Tanya finally got back after about 2 & a half hours and says to me that it was the most intense painful massage that she has ever had and the lady said that her back may be a bit red.....haaa....she looked like she had been beaten up. My god if that is what you have to go through to get stuff fixed I will stay broken....lol. She has since found out that what she had is called Guasa Treatment and is very intense. Now even after a couple of hours and a sleep I still had the headache so I took more tablets and had a coffee and voila.....headache gone. We have spent the night in watching movies and snacking being very boring. Another quiet day tomorrow with no plans so we will see what happens. Alvo xoxo
