Food Lovers Heaven....

We had to take our bike back to Karon this morning so we got the keys to the bike we are renting from the guy who is renting the condo to us and we headed off just after 9am. While we were in Karon we went back to the dentist as we both wanted what we had done checked as a couple of things weren't right. At first they told us that we would have to come back on Tuesday but then said we could come back at 1pm. So we went to get something to eat and wandered around killing time. We had a fish spa which is so cool. You sit with your feet and legs in a tank full of little fish that nibble on your skin and it really tickles. You only need to do it for 10 mins and your feet feel so soft and nice afterwards. We decided to go back to the dentist early and wait but we didn't have to as she was free to see us straight away. She fixed what was needed (free of charge of course) and we were on our way again. We stopped in at Jungceylon shopping centre in Patong and got a few supplies before heading home. It started raining just before we got home so an afternoon in will be had. I had a bit of a nana nap and Tanya watched t.v and she is as happy as a pig in mud as we get the Asian Cooking Channel. At 5pm it was time to head off to find the weekend night market in Phuket Town. Helen gave us directions to get there last night so we were hoping to remember them. We only got lost twice but hit the jackpot asking 2 different people that spoke perfect English who put us right. Along the main road there were heaps of road works and there was a massive traffic jam....and that's where being on a moped is gold....not only can you ride up the side and in between cars normally but today was so jammed that we followed the locals and rode on the footpath.....LOL....it was so cool and we beat the traffic jam in no time......hahaha....when in Rome :) We found a park and into the depths of the markets we went. It is quite big but not nearly as crazy as the markets we went to in Bangkok. We soon found all the food stalls and we were in heaven. There were soooo many cool things and we soon started sampling bits and pieces. We did a bit of browsing in between and bought a few bargains. It started raining again and trying to dodge all the places that aren't covered is a bit of a feat. The shopping highlight was when Tanya was looking at shoes and asked how much...650 he said but can do discount......ok, so she tries a few on. A Thai lady came in and asked how much and he told her in Thai.....little does he know that Tanya could understand him....so after much deliberation she decides on a pair and says to the guy...ok so you told the Thai lady 400 before....so 400 for me then.....the look on his face was priceless....then he grinned and said...O.K....and there was no argument....LOL....It was really funny and maybe you had to be there. Score for the Farangs....lol. We saw this really cool stand selling ice cream which we had to try. We think it is probably how they make the ice cream at cold rock. They pour cream and your choice of fruit onto a frozen surface and chop it really fast and smash it till its smooth and then flatten it out and it freezes, then they scrape it off in curls into a container and voila....ice cream. It is so delicious too and Tanya got to actually make ours with the girl so that was really cool. I have posted a video on facebook if you want to have a look. Anyway we had enough of shopping and food and it finally stopped raining so we found our bike and headed off into the dark hoping we would find our way home. Getting home was easier than getting there and took no time at all. Alvo xoxo
