Football & Cocktails....

We were up and ready to go before 9am as Tamara was taking Bella to the park and we were getting a taxi to the post office to send our cool Thai bed thingies back to Australia. Getting a taxi here is super easy but getting them to understand where you want to go is a different story. Although we were lucky today and he seemed to know where we wanted to go and as we knew which way he should go it was all good.....but then he turned up a side street and we thought he was taking a sneaky back way to avoid the traffic. In the end we are sure it took longer and he dropped us on the wrong side of the street (which is a bit of a pain as you can't just cross the street anywhere here).....but for $2 we certainly were not going to complain. So we finally found the post office and are very pleased the girl there speaks English but not so pleased when she says that there was not a box big enough for our stuff and we could send it the way they were but there is a chance that Australia won't except them....arghhhhh. So after much deliberation we decide we will chance it and get them wrapped properly, fill out forms, pay a small fortune and send them on their way....see you in 3 months :) We walked back to the train station and as Tanya was wanting to get a haircut at the 100 baht hairdresser back at another station, we got an all day pass and headed back there. You put your money in a machine and it gives you a ticket which you then give to the hairdresser in this tiny little salon and she cuts your hair....mind you I think it really is a mens salon but Tanya is ok with that....lol. She was a bit worried as the girl didn't speak much English and seemed to be getting a bit clipper happy with a number 1 but it ended up pretty good although a bit shorter than normal....but it's only hair and grows back. After vacuuming the hair off her we were ready to go....lol. We got the train to where we were going to meet Tamara and as there was a vegetarian festival on we stopped and tasted a few things. We then went into MBK which is a massive shopping centre and has so many shops and food and waaaaayyy too many people. I have never seen so many mobile phone shops in my life....there were hundreds of them. We managed to find Tamara and we headed to another big shopping centre. It's a pity we aren't shopping freaks as it would have been pretty awesome. But as we aren't, we were glad to get out of there. We had found a pub on the internet which was playing the NRL Grand Final so we got a train and then a cab to get there....only we couldn't find the pub so after doing a lap of the street we just got out to walk and look for it. We found another pub and they had a really good happy hour so we went there instead. There were a few other Aussies in there and it turned out to be a great afternoon. We consumed way too many cocktails but for $3 each it's a bit hard not to. We decided that we would go to a restaurant called Cabbages and Condoms, which we had been told about by our friend Jason in Hoi An. It is a really cool place that supports safe sex in Thailand and is also a charity. Although it's a bit pricey, the food was so delicious and it's all for a good cause. It was pouring rain when we left so we jumped in a cab and headed home. We have had a great last day here and have really enjoyed our time with Tamara. We are off in the morning to Phuket for the last leg of our adventures. Alvo xo
